I enjoyed the experience despite the flaws too.

First of all, as I mentioned in another thread, after a million years of study why weren't the aliens aware of microbes? Um...duh?

The working video camera bothered me too. Of course it can be explained away by a lead lined camera bag. Then again, the TV reporter's van seemed fully functional.

And yes, the son should have been toast.

Amazingly, they manage to find a path through all that debris to drive their van. And all the disabled vehicles conveniently stalled in a staggered pattern so they could maneuver around them too.

    But that's just picky shit.

<font size="2" face="Verdana, Helvetica, sans-serif">I mentioned that flaw to my friends after the movie and they brought up a point: Microbes evolve over time like anything else and the aliens might not have been aware of the current strains. Whatever. If they're so superior, wouldn't they have been smart enough to safeguard themselves against the possibility of getting ANY kind of infection? Hell, we did it when we went to the moon! Wink

I'm reminded of that scene from "Galaxy Quest" where the guy freaked when they opened the shuttle door on a alien planet, "You don't just open the door! How do you know if there's air?"

It's beyond me how Spielberg and Cruise found their way out of here.

To be honest, really enjoyed the movie. But anything with this gigantic of a hype-tornado behind it is just pleading for any & all mistakes & continuity-errors to be brought forward. Like the digi-handicam working, or Tom's punk kid surviving a wall 'o flame. Oh yeah, Tom throws a baseball like a little bitch.

CGI should only be used for landscapes & architecture, not characters. Like the wolves in 'The Day After Tomorrow', the CGI aliens in WotW didn't work. Besides, the design of their heads was simply a cross between ID4 and something which would rather munch Reeces Pieces & play with a Speak-N-Spell.

Hint to the aliens; when vacationing, don't drink the water (especially not from rusty pipes in basements). Bring bottled next time.

Something odd struck me couple days ago. The tripod 'dust-o-mizing' ray-beams tore through anything (so one couldn't hide behind a wall, vehicle or building to be safe), living flesh turned to ash in a fraction of a second, BUT victims clothes remained fluttering in the breeze. What!? All that, and it wasn't even Humans or Earth the aliens wanted, but our laundry!!

Hehee, I bet they've been scouting Earth for years, hiding recon missions behind washing machines across the globe, snatching those socks which go missing every couple weeks, until they were finally ready for "OPERATION: PANTY RAID".

I think anyone can find holes in any plot, but the whole point of movies like this is "suspension of disbelief", allowing us to "buy" the storyline.

Let's face it, The Enterprise would probably loose it's engines at warp 9, and Spawn would be tripping over his cape all the frickin time.

(And walking with ONE oversized SPIKED boot? Imagine the scrapes on his other leg!)

Oh, and I had NO clue at ALL the wolves in Day After Tomorrow were CGI until no, and I can usually spot cgi in a heartbeat!

(and we JUST rewatched it a few days ago!)

Just follow the beer bottles, potato chip bags, and torn flannel shirts along the side of the roads.

    Yep.

Deliverance may have been shot here, as well... I'll get back to you on that one.

And from what I've heard... no body had to act in that movie.
